- (1840s) Mentioned in Dispatches during the 7th Xhosa War in 1846 as War Profiteer for the Boers.
- (1840s) Involved in the 7th Xhosa War in 1846 as Sharpshooter under General Somerset.
- (1870s) Took part in in the Franco-Prussian War with the Mecklenburg-Schwerin in the Siege of Paris as a Cavalry Captain, he died there from a pierced lung.
- (1860s) Present during the Italian Risorgimento as a Foreign Advisor for the Austrian army in 1866.
